The Life Span of Dwarf Hamsters

Every family is unique and every family pet can be as well. We make our pets a part of our families. Find a pet that is right for you and your particular situation. Whether you are a homeowner looking for a family friend, or rent an apartment that does not allow cats and dogs, there is a pet for you. If you are looking for a new pet you may want to look into dwarf hamsters. These social, tiny and adorable animals could be a fantastic addition to your home and are especially fun for children.
A dwarf hamster is so small it can fit in the palm of your hand. They are not expensive to purchase or upkeep. If you properly train one while they are babies, they will be your life long friend. When purchasing a new dwarf hamster look for animals that seem to be socialized, have clear eyes, and clean coats. Their fur should be free of any bare spots. If you plan on getting a pair of hamsters, plan on getting two from the same litter or if you are NOT a breeder two of the same sex.
When purchasing items for dwarf hamsters, make sure that the cage and accessories, as well as toys indicate they can be used with hamsters or mice. These hamsters can be fed regular hamster food, as well as provided with snacks of grains, fruits and vegetables. For proper tooth care provide them with chew sticks. Keep your dwarf hamster tidy by cleaning it's cage once a week or once ever two weeks.
The typical life span of the most popular type of dwarf hamster, the Campbell's hamster can be from 1.5 years to 2 years. Sometimes they can live longer.
Making sure that you have purchased your pet in healthy condition, provide them with appropriate sized cages and toys will help your new pet have a long life span. Making sure that they enjoy the correct food and snacks will help to increase the time you will have with these special friends. Make sure that your hamsters are kept in cages under clean conditions.
Lastly, keep in mind that these hamsters are tiny. Be considerate of their small stature when attempting to socialize and play with them outside of their cages. Due to their tiny size, loosing one can sometimes be easy. Pay close attention to your pet or contain them in other ways while they are outside of their cage.

Keep Your Cat Entertained With Fun Pet Toys

I'm a long-time cat owner, starting in my childhood.  I've raised a cat from a newborn kitten and I've rescued adult cats from shelters hoping to improve the quality of their lives.  Through all these experiences I've learned to not underestimate a cat's need for stimulation and a physical outlet for stress.
There are a lot of inexpensive remedies for the bored cat, ranging from a paper grocery sack to a shoe box or cardboard tube.  While these can be fun for awhile, the end result is often unsightly and messy.  Although real toys are more expensive than simple reused materials, the combination of color, sound, shape and utility really make quality cat toys worth the price.
If you're looking to grow a collection of things to entertain your cat, I have some suggestions.  Consider starting with a small cat tree that includes a place to perch, an enclosed area for hiding, a scratching area and (if possible) a hammock or pouch for form-fitting comfort.
Another one of my favorite cat toys is a crinkle tunnel.  This type of toy has a cylindrical shape that's flexible so it folds up easily for storage or travel.  Crinkle tunnels usually have a couple of types of fabric to add to the play experience and may even have a couple of round cut-outs for added fun during play.  My cats love to enter the tunnel from one end and race out one of those holes!
These are my best suggestions for bringing some diversity and fun into the lives of your indoor cats. Consider buying a cat tree and a crinkle tunnel for your cat to play on.  You'll be glad you did!
As a long-time pet owner, Julie is passionate about supporting animal health and wellness. As a board member of her local rescue league, she understands the value proper mental and physical stimulation offers indoor cats in particular. Julie's Siamese cats, Sissy and Missy, enjoy the indoor life thanks to cat towers and cat trees from Ace Cat Furniture.

Toys Your Cat Love to Play With

When you are at the local pet store, and you are looking at all the different play products for your your feline companion, you can be assured that one of them will appeal to your cat.
A lot of people do not realize that cats are a lot like kids. They grow up, and there are toys that appeal to them at a certain age, and then they get interested in other ones. Following theses tips will help you find the right one.
Cat towers are great for pets because they generally like to climb, jump and perch themselves up high. They are also a good alternative for them to expend energy, instead of jumping on furniture, curtains, or scratching things.
Next on the list is toy mice, and they will go nuts chasing and playing with them over and over again. But, there are good varieties as well as bad ones. They generally like small mice with long tails. Getting a package of toy mice will give your cat hours of entertainment every day.
In addition to mice, grab some catnip. This stuff is magic and drives cats nuts. It will get them seriously wound up, but the good news is that when they calm down, they crash for a long time, so they are perfect for bed time.
Just be careful that you don't create an addict out of your cat by giving it too much catnip. They can get used to it quickly and develop a dependence on the stuff. But, using it judiciously will bring a lot of enjoyment and fun to your cat.
Because cats are so easily entertained, they can find fun with a lot of different things, including ones that are laying around your house. So, look for old rope, stuffed animals or small objects that slide easily on the floor. The options are limitless, and it all depends on what kinds of things your cat likes.
The point is to make sure that they have things to play with so they don't get bored and take it out on your furniture.

EPL Team Profile - Chelsea

The formal name of the club is Chelsea Football Club. The squad are popularly referred to as the Blues, or the Pensioners.
Founded in 1905, Chelsea host their home matches at Stamford Bridge, in London, which can seat over 41,000 spectators.
The owner of the club is Roman Abramovich, the chairman, Bruce Buck, and the manager, Carlo Ancelotti.
The squad won the Premiership last season, and they are favourites to retain their title.
After enjoying eminent success in top tier English football in the sixties and seventies, Chelsea went into decline in the eighties and nineties, only winning their next major championship, the FA Cup, in 1997.
They have won the Premiership three times in all, first winning it in 2004-05, and retaining it in the following season.
In two matches played in the ongoing season, the Blues have recorded identical wins of 6-0, over West Bromwich Albion and Wigan Athletic.
Pre-season review:
Before Carlo Ancelotti took the rein at Stamford Bridge, Avram Grant and Phil Scolari were handed it, in turn, only to have it taken away.
If Ancelotti has survived where redoubtable managers like Grant and Scolari failed, the reason lies in Chelsea's winning of the Premiership, on Ancelotti's watch, in his very first season.
Can Ancelotti, in only his second season, do it a second time running? In his first, Ancelotti kept Manchester United at bay, demonstrating, in the process, why he had been rated so highly at AC Milan.
That said, the Chelsea squad aren't getting any younger; Didier Drogba, for instance is in his thirty third year.
Michael Essien is emerging from two years clouded by injury, and his presence in midfield could give Chelsea a winning edge, this season.
Ashley Cole has stayed with Chelsea, despite rumours of migration to Real Madrid, and is arguably the world's best left back.
But his publicized comments about the English haven't gone down well with local football fans and Cole could come under heavy strafing, especially in away games. Much depends on whether or not he keeps his head.
The following players make up the Stamford Bridge squad:
Cech, Terry, Paulo Ferreira, Cole, Alex, Essien, Mikel, Malouda, Lampard, Anelka, Drogba, Ivanovic, Hilario, Zhirkov, Benayoun, Sturridge, Kalou, and Van Aanholt.
Liverpool's Yossi Benayoun is a major summer signing while Joe Cole's departure is an offset.
Deco and Michael Ballack, their best footballing years behind them, have gone home.
There's no doubting Chelsea's quality. But as the season wears on, the ages of their star players is likely to come increasingly into focus.
Whether it is Scholes, or John Terry, or Lampard or Drogba, their fitness is bound to be called into question, sooner or later. Can Ancelotti then turn to his younger lot to bail the squad out?

EPL Team Profile - Newcastle

The formal name of the team is Newcastle United Football Club, or Newcastle United FC. They are also referred to by the nicknames of the Magpies, or the Toon. Founded in 1892, the Magpies have their home venue at St James' Park that can hold about 52,000. Owned by Mike Ashley, the Managing Director of the club is Derek Llambias, while Chris Hughton has recently taken charge as manager. The club enjoyed their heyday in the 1950's, and saw some success in top flight English football till the 1970's.
Then began the decline which was arrested coincidentally with the beginning of the Premier league in 1992-93. The Toon were promoted to the Premier League the following year, and did well, finishing runners up in the 95-96 and 96-97 seasons. Then came the shock relegation in 2008-09, which seems to have served as a wake-up call, as the Magpies recovered within the year to get promoted back. In the three matches played in the ongoing season, Newcastle have won one, and drawn one. The solitary loss came against Manchester United. Early Season Preview:
Much credit is due to Chris Hughton, as under his watch, Newcastle have not only got re-promoted to top flight English football, but look likely to stay. By mauling Aston Villa, 6-0, they have justified their re-promotion to the League. After three matches, played this season, Newcastle are 8th in the team rankings. The squad comprise the following players: Harper, Jose Enrique, Harper, Coloccini, Perch, Williamson, Nolan, Barton, Smith, Gutierrez, Routledge, Caroll, Krul, Taylor, Kadar, Vuckic, Lovenkrands, Ameobi, and Ranger.
Andy Caroll is already top scorer, this season, with four of the seven goals, the Magpies have scored in their three matches. Wearing the same number nine jersey, as Milburn, Andy Cole, and Shearer, Caroll is clearly emulating the former legends, in what they are best known for, scoring goals. In signings, Everton's Dan Gosling could be key, after leaving his former club amidst disagreements regarding the renewal of his contract at Goodison Park. Everton's loss is Magpies' gain. Additional to Everton's Gosling, Arsenal's Sol Campbell and Nottingham Forest's James Perch have also bolstered Newcastle's bid for a permanent foothold in the Premiership. The club will not have the services of the departing Fabrice Pancrate, this season.
The Magpies have no dearth of calibre in their squad, with the likes of Jonas, Smith, Nolan and Coloccini, apart from signings such as Gosling and Campbell. Whether the squad fulfill their early promise will depend on the fitness and consistency of the squad's best players.

Diego Forlan

After the events of the summer of 2004 - when, unwanted at Manchester United wondering whether he might best be advised to go home to South America - Diego Forlan's career has undergone a remarkable turnaround.
The Atletico Madrid striker's inspiration, hard work, fair play and exemplary leadership in South Africa were pre-eminent factors in Uruguay's best finish at the World Cup finals since 1970, when old heroes such as Pedro Rocha, Roberto Matosas, Luis Cubilla and Ladislao Mazurkiewicz also reached the semi-finals and were ultimately placed fourth. He also earned the ultimate recognition when he was awarded the Golden Ball as player of the tournament.
Twice winner of the European Golden Shoe - as leadning scorer in the continent's domestic leagues - Forlan stepped up decisively into the international elite in May when he scored both goals as Atletico beat Fulham 2-1 in the extra-time climax of the Europa League Final. Then, little more than three weeks later, he was joint-top scorer in South Africa. Germany's Thomas Muller may have collected the World Cup Golden Shoe on the basis of more assists, but Forlan would have beaten him to it - and David Villa and Wesley Sneijder - had his last-second free-kick not ricocheted away off the top of Germany keeper Hans-Jorg butt's bar in their third-place play-off. Forlan was released by United in August 2004 because, though fans appreciated his industry, 17 goals in 98 apperances was not the sort of return demanded by manager Alex Ferguson. His ratio of 29 goals in 69 games for his country, however, is far better. Forlan has no reservations about the overall outcome in Sout Africa and says: "Spain put on the best performances and were well-deserved winners. They played far better than anyone else there. "They didn't score many goals - we score more to Spain's - but players like David Villa and Andreas Iniesta can score the important goals which win matches. Iniesta, especially, finds spaces on the pitch which catch the opposition off guard."
After it was all over, Forlan - now a wanted man all over Europe - touched base in Spain just long enough to pass through the Atletico offices before flying off on holiday, dismissing all questions about his future.
Forlan may appear to lack the aura which clings, for one reason or another, to previous World Cup Golden Ball winnders such as Diego Maradona, Paolo Rossi, Toto Schillaci, Ronaldo, Romario and Zinedine Zidane. But, for all his modesty, he will not waste time worrying on that score; it's mixed up with other memories.
